National Poetry Month

It's National Poetry Month so I was researching some new poets and chapbooks I should be following and I can't tell you how many people recommended Rupi Kaur's "Milk and Honey" poetry book.

Wow. Trigger warnings for those who may need them but these poems gave me all the feels. I could not believe how moved I was after reading just a few pages. Here's a sample:

I couldn't read the book in one setting and yet I know I will come back to this book depending on what I'm going through in my life.

Another poet I've recommended to others is a former co-worker who has gone on to do some incredible work, Stacia Fleegal. I check in on her every so often on social media and enjoy when I see her work getting viral attention, such as her piece about Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Who are some other poets I should be reading and exploring? This is a genre I typically don't spend much time in, but when I do, I am so completely affected that I wonder why I don't.
